Let's go back in time!

If you live in Victoria you will know how absolutely insane unpredictable the weather is. Last term we organised an excursion to Flagstaff Hill to tie in with out 'Past and Present Family Life' unit, and low and behold the day we were scheduled to go we had the most out of control wind you could imagine! I literally woke up to the house moving...and a text message from our principal saying we would be wise to cancel the trip. I agreed. The children, although I'm sure they expected it, were upset when we told them it was cancelled, and assured them it would be rescheduled for next term.

Well it's next term now, and we finally made it to Flagstaff Hill!
Flagstaff Hill is a maritime museum and outdoor village which provides a glimpse into the maritime lifestyles and trades of the 1870's era. It was great for the kids to see the types of buildings and trades that were present in the past. Some of them learnt the hard way not to run on the cobble stone streets.

If only you could see their beaming little faces.
I think the little red cape is ca-ute!
Check out rule 5.
Imagine getting around in clothes like that as a teacher these days, no thank you!

 I spy a cheeky face.
I love this photo! Minus the blurred faces.

This one was taken from the top of the lighthouse.

My little wonders made me take this photo, spot the sheep in the background?

One of my little wonders took this photo using my camera, I love it!
Despite being rained on a little bit, the day was great! We would have liked more time for the kids to explore the village, they had so many questions. It was especially great for them to make the links between what they were seeing and what we learnt in our history unit. We're so lucky to have so much history where we live (or in this case an hour away).

  1. Hi Zoe,

What an amazing place to have close to your school! Gorgeous buildings and scenery. :) We have an historical village about 45 minutes from my school, but it's not quite as beautiful as Flagstaff Hill. Looks like you had a wonderful day!
